Two proposed wind developments, one onshore in the UK and one offshore in Vietnam, are advancing through early survey and planning work.
In East Anglia, Vattenfall has unveiled plans for the Chatteris and Redmere onshore wind farms. Chatteris could have a capacity of up to 126 MW and Redmere up to 303 MW, subject to approval. The company says community feedback and environmental studies will shape the designs. Each project will have a separate planning application, with local drop-in events scheduled for October.
In Vietnam, Pacifico Energy has received a sea survey licence for its proposed up to 1.3 GW Nam Trung Bo 3 offshore wind project in Lam Dong Province. The approval allows technical and environmental studies of the offshore area. Pacifico plans to prepare its survey programme ahead of fieldwork in 2027, including geophysical and geotechnical surveys, wind measurements, oceanographic studies and environmental baseline surveys.
The projects are at different stages and face different site conditions, but both announcements put early assessment work in focus. For Nam Trung Bo 3, subsurface data will help establish a basis for design and later permitting decisions; in East Anglia, survey findings and public feedback will inform the proposed layouts.
