HM Exploration is integrating structural and electromagnetic survey data to plan the next phase of drilling at its Lewis Pilley’s volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) project in Newfoundland, Canada.
The company has received the final data from a borehole televiewer survey completed in July and is incorporating the structural measurements into its geological model. Televiewer images provide oriented views of features such as fractures, faults, veins and contacts within a drill hole.
A borehole electromagnetic (EM) survey was completed in mid-September. Crone also carried out a pilot surface EM survey over mineralisation exposed in a trench at the Clifford Jones (Bull Road) Zone. HM is awaiting the final EM report before combining its interpretation with the televiewer data to prioritise further drill targets.
Eleven of twelve drill holes were covered by the surveys; the remaining hole could not be surveyed because it had collapsed. HM said it has approval for a second drilling phase and expects work to begin in early to mid-November.
The combined approach is intended to test how structures control mineralisation and whether EM can help identify conductive sulphide targets beyond areas already drilled. The surveys are complete, but HM has yet to report their integrated interpretation or confirm new targets.
