Prospex Energy and operator Po Valley Operations will interpret newly processed 3D seismic data to refine reservoir targets for a four-well drilling programme at the Selva Malvezzi gas concession in northern Italy.
SLB has delivered a preliminary 3D seismic volume following the processing of recently acquired data, with the final volume expected shortly.
Several historical wells can be tied to the new seismic volume, allowing interpretation from known gas discoveries to be extended towards the proposed drilling locations. The work is expected to update prospect risk profiles and volumetric estimates while refining reservoir landing positions for the planned 2027 drilling campaign.
The surface well locations will remain unchanged, meaning that the existing environmental impact assessment and permitting applications will not need to be revised.
Once the seismic interpretation is complete, the joint venture intends to commission an updated Competent Person’s Report providing independent verification of the natural gas resources within the licence.
Italy’s Ministry of Environment and Energy Security has declared the environmental impact assessment for the four-well programme admissible. A 60-day public consultation period is now under way.
Po Valley Operations holds a 63% interest in Selva Malvezzi and operates the concession, while Prospex holds the remaining 37%.
Production from the Podere Maiar well remained steady during August, reaching 2.5 million standard cubic metres of gas. The joint venture has also signed a new 12-month gas sales agreement with Hera Trading, beginning on 1 October 2026.
