Shearwater Geoservices and SLB have launched a major 3D multi-client seismic survey offshore Amapá, targeting an underexplored area of Brazil’s Equatorial Margin following the Morpho hydrocarbon discovery.
The Amapá 3D survey will expand high-quality seismic coverage and provide new regional subsurface insight to support prospect evaluation, exploration decisions and future licensing activity.
Located approximately 130 km from the Morpho well, the project represents one of Shearwater’s largest multi-client investments.
Shearwater will acquire high-density broadband data aboard the Amazon Warrior using its Isometrix marine seismic technology. SLB will process and image the data using advanced workflows, including elastic full-waveform inversion.

As customers assess opportunities across the area, Amapá 3D will provide a clearer picture of the subsurface to help them evaluate prospectivity and make better-informed investment decisions.”
The partners expect the resulting regional dataset to improve geological understanding and address critical data requirements across the survey area.
