Shearwater Geoservices has been awarded a seven-week ocean bottom node (OBN) survey in the North Sea, marking the first commercial deployment of the company’s newly installed electric remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).
The survey will be conducted using the SW Tasman, equipped with Pearl nodes and operating as the ROV vessel. The SW Gallien will support the project as the seismic source vessel. Operations are scheduled to begin imminently following completion of the ROV upgrade.
“The project marks a significant milestone for Shearwater with the introduction of the new systems as part of the continuous development of our subsea capabilities and integrated OBN offering,” said CEO Irene Waage Basili.
She added that the technology is intended to enhance reliability and operational efficiency while strengthening the company’s ability to deliver differentiated OBN solutions. The SW Tasman has experienced strong demand since entering service as an ROV vessel in early 2024.
