Eni has been awarded offshore exploration Block A1 in The Gambia, following the signing of a Petroleum Exploration, Development and Production Licence Agreement with the Government of The Gambia. The agreement was signed with the country’s Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Nani Juwara.
Block A1 covers approximately 1300 km² offshore The Gambia, in water depths ranging from 1250 m to 3300 m. According to Eni, the block is located in a region of the Atlantic margin where hydrocarbon discoveries have already been proven.
Eni said its entry into The Gambia is aligned with its exploration strategy of building a geographically diversified portfolio, including opportunities in proven, underexplored, emerging and frontier areas with high potential.
