The first season of 3D seismic acquisition on Uruguay's AREA OFF-1 offshore licence has been completed, according to a mid-year operational update from Sintana Energy.
The survey, operated by Chevron, marks an important milestone in the evaluation of the frontier Atlantic Margin block. Initial fast-track processing results are expected during the second half of 2026, while a second seismic acquisition campaign remains scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter.
The 3D seismic programme is being acquired to support future exploration drilling decisions. Sintana also noted continued interest from international oil companies in neighbouring Uruguayan acreage, with recent farm-ins by QatarEnergy, Chevron and Eni highlighting growing exploration activity in the basin.
Sintana also completed a 2D seismic program on the KON-16 block in Angola, and a farm-out process has been initiated. The Company expects to finalise the transaction in relation to the acquisition of its interest in KON-16 in the near-term.
