EAGE Education Officer Flora Garofalo discusses the Association’s course catalogue, new Masterclasses and ways professionals can keep developing their skills.
What is the importance of having such a robust education catalogue?
Education is one of the pillars of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE). We support members throughout their careers: early-career professionals can explore the wide range of paths and opportunities available to them, while experienced professionals can deepen their expertise and keep pace with emerging technologies. With this in mind, the EAGE Short Course Catalogue, featuring more than 100 courses taught by experienced instructors from industry and academia, keeps our Association’s multidisciplinary approach and reflects the latest developments in geoscience and engineering. Each course has been carefully selected by the Education Committee members.
What is the aggregate value of the courses offered by EAGE?
EAGE offers a broad range of education opportunities in a variety of in-person and online formats, both public and in-house. Our courses are designed to be easily followed as 1-day or 2-day courses in-person, or split in shorter sessions online. I would especially like to highlight our newest format: the EAGE Masterclasses. These comprehensive programmes, comprising multiple complementary short courses, are taught by leading experts. Each course explores a different technical aspect of the main topic, providing you with a well-rounded and in-depth learning experience.
As EAGE Education Officer, what is your invitation to professionals, students and companies?
To get started, I invite you to explore our learning resources on Learning Geoscience, our online learning platform. Here, a wide range of free content is already available to EAGE members, including e-lectures and how-to videos that help develop soft skills essential for building and sustaining a successful career. Next, consider the possibility of activating an Education Package. You can choose from packages of 3, 5, or 10 credits to access our full range of online courses, with savings of up to 40% compared with individual course registration.
Finally, browse the EAGE Education Calendar to find in-person courses that match your learning goals. These are always offered at special discount rates for members.
Keep in mind that EAGE continually updates the Catalogue to keep it relevant to current industry developments and evolving training and reskilling needs as the sector expands into new energy fields and technologies.
"The courses involve a lot of data and case studies add value to the experience”
