DMT has purchased 6,000 Sercel Accel drop nodes for a large-scale urban seismic acquisition programme supporting geothermal exploration in the greater Munich region.
The dense nodal survey is intended to improve subsurface understanding and provide the seismic data required to evaluate geothermal development opportunities. Operating in a major urban area presents particular challenges for receiver deployment, access, safety and survey productivity.
Accel nodes are designed to be dropped into position, allowing crews to deploy receivers more rapidly while reducing manual handling. Their compatibility with existing Sercel node fleets should also allow DMT to integrate the new equipment into a broader nodal acquisition system.
The project provides another example of high-density seismic methods and technologies developed for hydrocarbon exploration being applied to geothermal resource characterisation in populated environments.
