S&P Global has agreed to sell its geoscience and petroleum engineering software portfolio to SLB as part of a new strategic direction for its upstream energy business.
The portfolio includes Kingdom, Petra, Harmony Enterprise, Analytics Explorer, SubPUMP, PowerTools, FieldDIRECT, Piper, WellTest and The Element Platform. The applications are widely used by US onshore and unconventional operators for subsurface interpretation, engineering and production workflows.
S&P Global Energy will continue distributing its proprietary data through the software following the transaction. The companies have also agreed to expand their collaboration on data distribution and the development of AI models for upstream applications.
Separately, S&P Global plans to launch Titan, an AI-powered platform designed to bring its upstream data, analytics and insights into a single workspace. The platform is undergoing beta testing and is scheduled for commercial release later in 2026.
The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval and other customary conditions. Completion is expected during the second half of 2026 or early 2027, while financial terms have not been disclosed.
