Shearwater Geoservices has been awarded a 4D towed-streamer seismic acquisition contract by Adura Operations Ltd for the Mariner field in the UK North Sea. The survey is scheduled to commence in July 2026 and will run for approximately one month.
The project will utilise Shearwater’s Isometrix multi-component streamer technology to acquire repeatable time-lapse seismic data aimed at supporting reservoir surveillance, production optimisation and long-term field management.
According to Shearwater, the survey design includes the option for an undershoot acquisition programme to improve subsurface imaging beneath and around production infrastructure. Such approaches are increasingly used in mature producing fields to maintain data coverage in areas that are difficult to image using conventional acquisition geometries.
The Mariner field is one of the largest producing assets in the UK North Sea and continues to rely on advanced subsurface monitoring technologies to maximise recovery and optimise production strategies throughout its field life.
The award highlights the continued importance of time-lapse seismic acquisition as operators focus on extracting additional value from mature offshore assets through improved reservoir understanding and data-driven field management.
