TotalEnergies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company, EGAS, to cooperate on offshore exploration activities in Egypt.
The agreement covers a large area in the north-western offshore of Egypt and establishes a framework for technical cooperation, including preliminary exploration and subsurface evaluation work. The announcement points to renewed interest in Egypt’s deep offshore potential.
According to TotalEnergies, the cooperation reflects a shared ambition to strengthen its partnership with Egypt and support the assessment of the country’s deep offshore exploration potential. The announcement also underlines the continued role of natural gas exploration in the Eastern Mediterranean and North African energy landscape, where offshore acreage remains technically complex but strategically important.
