Eni and TIMOR GAP have completed a major offshore seismic acquisition programme in the PSC TL-SO-22-23 contract area offshore Timor-Leste, marking an important milestone in the country's ongoing efforts to evaluate its offshore hydrocarbon potential.
According to a joint declaration by the National Petroleum Authority (ANP), the survey acquired approximately 1,535 km² of new 3D seismic data together with 60 line kilometres of 2D seismic, exceeding the minimum work commitment defined for the first exploration phase. The acquisition was completed safely and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
The newly acquired dataset will now enter the processing and interpretation phase, where it will be integrated into the geological evaluation of the block. Subject to the outcome of this work, the consortium plans to drill an exploration well in 2027, representing the next step in assessing the area's prospectivity.
The completion of the survey also represents a significant step for Timor-Leste's upstream sector, supporting the country's ambition to attract further exploration investment while expanding geological knowledge of its offshore basins.
