The proceedings of the World Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage Conference 2026, powered by EAGE, are now available online through EarthDoc with open access.
The collection offers an early view of the technical research and industry developments that will be presented at WCCUS 2026, taking place from 21–25 September 2026 at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre in Scotland.
Contributions cover the full CCUS value chain, including carbon capture technologies, direct air capture, CO₂ transport, utilisation and mineralisation, geological storage, well integrity, monitoring, modelling and policy.
Subsurface-focused studies address topics such as regional storage-resource screening, reservoir and seal characterisation, plume migration, geological uncertainty, legacy-well risks and the behaviour of CO₂ during injection. The proceedings also include work examining storage opportunities in saline aquifers, depleted hydrocarbon reservoirs and basalt formations.
Among the wider topics are advances in capture materials and processes, CO₂ utilisation in cement, pipeline depressurisation and the regulatory frameworks required to support the industrialisation of CCS.
More than 140 presentations are expected to provide the basis for technical discussion and knowledge exchange during the conference. WCCUS brings together expertise from engineering, geoscience, policy, academia and industry to examine the challenges involved in moving CCUS from individual projects towards deployment at scale.
The 2026 event follows the inaugural World CCUS Conference held in Bergen, Norway in 2025. This year’s programme also includes workshops, short courses, field trips and a dedicated programme for young professionals.
