Satinder Chopra has been at the forefront of seismic attribute analysis and reservoir geophysics for more than 41 years. He is widely recognised for his pioneering contributions to seismic attribute interpretation, particularly the development and application of geometric attributes such as coherence and curvature. A passionate and engaging communicator, Dr Chopra has delivered more than 258 presentations at international conferences and workshops and authored nine books covering diverse aspects of geophysics. A long-standing contributor to the EAGE Annual Conference, he has also delivered EAGE e-lectures, sharing his expertise with the global geoscience community.
Zoya Heidari was recognised for her significant contributions to multiscale formation evaluation, rock physics and petrophysics. Her work has advanced understanding of how rock fabric, pore structure and geochemical interactions influence the interpretation of well logs and core measurements. She has developed practical experimental methods and physics-based models that improve the assessment of saturation, permeability, wettability and storage capacity in conventional and unconventional reservoirs, as well as in CCS and hydrogen-storage settings. Professor Heidari has also demonstrated strong leadership through the creation of research consortia, collaboration with industry and the development of tools that are now applied in field studies. As an educator and mentor, she has trained numerous students and young professionals who are now contributing to the geoscience and engineering community.
Omar Saad is an internationally recognised leader whose pioneering research has transformed geophysics, notably through advances in full-waveform inversion (FWI), seismic denoising and the integration of artificial intelligence into geoscientific analysis. His extensive service as a reviewer for more than 20 journals exemplifies his commitment to scientific rigour and excellence. Dr Saad’s dedication extends beyond research, as demonstrated by his active engagement with the geoscience community, including leading workshops, delivering training sessions, supervising students and releasing widely used open-source software packages. His innovative research, technical expertise and exemplary community service have made a lasting impact, inspiring peers and young scientists alike. Dr Saad’s achievements embody the spirit of the Arie van Weelden Award, honouring a young leader whose contributions continue to shape the future of geoscience.
