TGS has entered into a framework agreement with newly established Galdor Exploration AS to support the identification and maturation of exploration opportunities on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and across the wider North Sea.
The collaboration will combine TGS’ integrated data and technology solutions with Galdor’s multidisciplinary exploration expertise. It will also include the implementation of advanced AI exploration workflows, including TGS’ proprietary Seismic Foundation Model.
Combining subsurface data with exploration experience
Galdor’s strategy brings together experienced exploration professionals, premium subsurface data and AI-enabled workflows. The company aims to apply advanced machine learning techniques at scale to investigate opportunities that conventional approaches may have overlooked or underestimated.
Galdor was formally established on 19 July 2026, a date chosen to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the spudding of Norway’s first exploration well.
TGS chief executive Kristian Johansen said the agreement reflects a more collaborative approach to working with exploration customers, drawing on the company’s integrated solutions to accelerate value creation.
Ørjan Gjerde, chief executive and founder of Galdor Exploration, said the partnership provides access to data, technology and expertise that will support the company’s exploration strategy.
“Our collaboration with TGS gives us access to data, technology and expertise of exceptional breadth and quality and allows us to apply advanced machine learning exploration techniques at scale,” Gjerde said.
The agreement places integrated subsurface data and AI workflows at the centre of Galdor’s approach to developing a new portfolio of North Sea exploration opportunities.
